Letter (318): Wykeham Perry, Secretary to the CINC, HMS Iron Duke at HK, 18 Apr 1881 to Keswick, Chairman HKWD, asking for cost estimate.
Letter (319-21): H Hoppius, Chairman HKWD, HK, 20 May 1881 to Admiral Willis, CINC, China Squadron (CS), suggesting a new dock be built instead of lowering the existing Kowloon Docks. Includes suggestions for payment of the project.

Letter (330-31): George O Willes, Vice Admiral, CINC, HMS Vigilant at Yokohama, 7 July 1881 to Secretary of the Admiralty, informing Admiralty the need to build a new dock at Kowloon, based on the communication with HKWD who do not want to extend the existing Aberdeen Dock.
Telegram (332): Admiralty, London to CINC, China. Received at Hakodate, 23 Aug 1881, reads 'Forward offer of Dock Company and plan of site for new Dock' with section drawings of Hope Dock Aberdeen showing proposed deepening and outlines of ships.
Plans (333-35) by William Danby, dated 11 Oct 1881, of proposed new dock at Kowloon at Hung Ham: a section and the whole dockyard with the proposed new dock.

Letter (340-44): Admiralty (signed G [George] O Trevelyan), 3 Mar 1882 to Vice Admiral Willes CB, CINC, China Station, informing that building the new dock has been accepted by the Lords Commission of the Admiralty based on the conditions of the draft agreement which in is based on the Colonial Dock Loan Act 1865. Attached draft agreement (341-42) and minutes on the tides in the China Seas by the Hydrographer (343-44).
Letter (345): Wykeham Perry, Secretary to the CINC, HMS Iron Duke at HK, 15 Apr 1882 to Secretary HKWD, informing that offer of the proposed dock can be accepted subject to the terms and conditions of the draft agreement based on the Colonial Docks Loan Act 1865.
Letter (346): R Cooke, Acting Secretary, HK, 20 Apr 1882 to Commodore Cuming, HMS Victor Emanuel, HK, informing that the draft agreement was accepted by the board of directors of HKWD and drawings and specification in detail will be made.
Letter (347): Admiralty (signed Robert Hall), 5 May 1882 to CINC, China, responding to the soundings sent and to the concerns raised about the alternative location.
Letter (348-52): Hoppius, Chairman, HK, 5 Aug 1882 to Commodore Cuming, HMS Victor Emanuel, HK, forwarding drawings and specifications of the new dock for approval to begin construction. Suggests to move dock to the south east as there are more suitable foundations, entailing an increase in the loan needed to build the dock.
Letter (353-57): William Danby, M.Inst.C.E., 5 Aug 1882, with description of the plans on the building of the proposed 'Admiralty Dock' at HK.
Memorandum (358): W H Cuming, Commodore-in-Charge, HK, 9 Aug 1882 to Secretary of the Admiralty, submission of letters and plans on the new dock to be built in Kowloon. Highlights that previous cost estimate by company was miscalcuted and that price increased due to higher stone, lime and labour costs.
Letter (359): Willes, Vice Admiral, CINC, HMS Iron Duke at Port Lagareff, 30 Aug 1882 to Secretary of the Admiralty, suggesting new cost be paid.

Memorandum (374): Willes, Vice Admiral, CINC, China, HMS Audacious in Woosung River dated 30 May 1883 to Secretary of the Admiralty, submitted for favourable consideration as satisfactory progress on the works have been made.
Letter (375-78): Bulkeley Johnson, Chairman HKWD, HK, 11 Aug 1883 to Admiral Willes CB, CINC, CS, acknowledging increase of grant to £25,000 and providing an update on construction of new dock.
Letter (379-82): Admiralty (signed G Tryon), 23 May 1883 to CINC, China Station, approving the increase of grant and instructing on further changes to the plans and agreement with HKWD. Also encloses a minute of the director of works to the Hydrographer on the proposed new dock at Kowloon (380-81) signed Fred [?]aus dated 5 Oct 1882.
Letter (383): Admiralty (signed Tryon), 4 Aug 1883 to CINC, China, informing that first instalment of the loan to HKWD cannot be acceded until the agreement has been signed by the Treasury.
Letter (384-85): Admiralty (signed Tryon), 14 Aug 1883 to Vice Admiral Willes CB, CINC, China Station, mentioning that the interest rate of the loan has been fixed at 4 percent but cannot alter parts of the agreement that have been quoted from the Act of Parliament. Further authorisation is given to dock vessels for ordinary purposes on the China Station to HKWD.
Letter (386-87): Bulkeley Johnson, Chairman, HK, 7 Nov 1883 to Admiral Willes CB, CINC, CS, acknowledging the responses from the Admiralty on the interest rate and that the agreement cannot be changed. Also mentions docking rights at China Station for convenience of public service.
