Encloses memorandum (folio 209): Nowell Salmon, Vice Admiral, dated 9 June 1890 to the Secretary of the Admiralty, regarding the contract with Jardine Matteson and Co for the supply of coal to HM ships at Nagasaki.
Encloses letter (folios 210-212): Admiralty (signed Evan Macgregor), dated 29 May 1890 to Vice Admiral Sir Nowell Salmon VC KCB, China, regarding the obligations of the new contract and that the coaling at any other location should be avoided.
Encloses letter (folio 213): Nowell Salmon, Vice Admiral, HMS Imperieuse at Hakodate dated 21 July 1890 to the Secretary of the Admiralty, replying with opinions and an update on the coal situation at Nagasaki.
