Description

Folios 114-124: Correspondence regarding the alteration of targets used for Prize Firing.

Encloses letter (folios 114-119): Admiralty (signed Evan Macgregor), dated 17 June 1890 to Commander-in-Chief, HM Ships and Vessels, China, informing that there has been an alteration of targets used for Prize Firing. Includes a note (folios 115-119) by the Chief Constructor detailing the specification for building Prize Firing Targets.

Encloses letter (folios 120-122): [F?] Symmons, Hong Kong, dated 11 September 1890 to the commodore in charge, regarding the state of the current Prize Firing Target at China Station and the cost estimate for the converting of the old model. The letter contains various responses and comments from the Naval Storekeeper, the Commodore and Commander-in-Chief.

Encloses memorandum (folio 123): Nowell Salmon, Vice Admiral, dated 9 October 1890 to the Secretary of the Admiralty, submitting correspondence regarding the estimate for converting the old Prize Firing Target at Hong Kong to a new pattern for £167 12 0. Note at the bottom suggests that the Vice Admiral does not recommend the expense for this.

Encloses letter (folio 124): Admiralty (signed Evan Macgregor), dated 26 November 1890 to Vice Admiral Sir Nowell Salmon VC KCB, China, informing that the work of repair and conversion of the Prize Firing Target need not be undertaken.
