The Court of Appeal Civil Division hears appeals against decisions by the High Court of Justice and its specialist courts, the County Court and the Family Court. It occasionally also hears appeals against decisions by tribunals, such as the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Publication of court judgments has long been standard practice in line with the principles of open justice. The individual judges who hand down judgments have the right to determine whether the judgment text should be published.
