Description

Folios 221-222: George Reynolds, Deal. Enclosing letters relating to the case of Henry Mutton who has been impressed at Ramsgate.

Folios 223-224: enclosure with folios 221-222. Letter dated 13 March 1807 by Samuel Leavey confirming that Henry Mutton is the person described in the indentures enclosed. He said he belonged to the Gallopere Light, but the agent knew nothing of him. He was sent to the Downes, and told the boat crew he had been on a yoyage to the West Indies, and then apprenticed to a Collier.

Folio 225: enclosure with folios 221-222. Letter dated 8 March 1807 by [Joshua Sydney] Horton from HMS Princess of Orange at the Downes, confirming that Henry Mutton was impressed on 16 February on shore at Ramsgate , is 20 years old and an apprentice.

Folios 226-227: enclosure with folios 221-222. Letter dated 5 March 1807 from John Jackson enclosing a petition from Robert Steriker, his consitituent, concerning the impressment of Henry Mutton. [petition not enclosed] He also encloses a Protection for Mutton for three years from 23 October 1806.

Folios 228-229: enclosure with folios 221-222. Printed covering letter from John Laugharne for the letter from Captain Horton of HMS Princess of Orange about the case of Henry Mutton.
