Description

Folios 209-210: George Reynolds, Deal. Informing that Mr Warden was impressed by by Davis Gang and had no document of protection. He encloses Lieutenant Gregory's letter relating to Mr Wardel.

Folios 211-212: enclosure with folios 209-210. Letter dated 11 March 1807 by Thomas Gregory from Dover noting that William Wardell was referred on February 3rd as not having any Protection or document to show he was Mate of the said Sloop. [Sloop not named]

Folios 213-214: enclosure with folios 209-210. Letter dated 2nd February 1807 from Lieutenant Rigby of the Brig Urgent at Sheerness, informing that William Wardell was impressed at Dover and sent on board the Brig Serpent. Wardell stated that John Dawn is Master of the Sloop Hardwick and William Rathray always went to sea as owner of the vessel. There are either two Masters or two Mates on board. An Affadavit is enclosed in support of Wardell.

Folios 215-216: enclosure with folios 209-210. Affadavit signed by William Rathray and Justice of the Peace, W. Goodman, on 12 February 1807, relating to William Wardell who was Mate of the Sloop Sandwich, owned by Rathray. Wardell was impressed by a Gang of men from Dover and put on HMS Urgent. Wardell's physical appearance is described.

Folios 217-218: enclosure with folios 209-210. Letter by William Rathray appealing for the discharge of William Wardell, and enclosing an affadavit.

Folios 219-220: enclosure with folios 209-210. Letter dated 4 March 1807 from William Rathray, repeating that he has requested the discharge of his Chief Mate William Wardell.
