Description

Folios 198-199: George Reynolds. Letter about payment of straggling money to men of a different rendezvous. Encloses certificate given by Captain Langhorn of HMS Isis to John Forster. Three men were found in a notorious crimping house. Men must be prevented from deserting.

Folios 200-201: enclosure with folios 198-199. Confirmation from [R. Tucker?] at the Admiralty Office, March 5, that the same allowance be made to the gangsmen who apprehend deserters or straggling men as paid to the military or police officers for the same service.

Folios 202-203: enclosure with folios 198-199. Letter dated 3 March 1807 to [Lieutenant Neale?] specifying the practice at the Rendezvous on Tower Hill for payments for gangsmen who impress a seaman on Information, or straggling seamen who exceed their leave, to be the same as for Police officers.

Folio 204: enclosure with folios 198-199: straggling certificate, signed by Captain John Langhorne of HMS Isis on 26 February 1807, certifying that Richard Parries was apprehended at Deal by John Forster, who has been rewarded with twenty shillings above his wages.

Folio 205: enclosure with folios 198-199: straggling certificate signed by Captain Langhorne certifying that Seymore Johnson was apprehended by John Forster who has been rewarded with twenty shillings.

Folio 206: enclosure with folios 198-199: straggling certificate signed by Captian Langhorne certifying that [John] Barrington was apprehended by John Forster who has been rewarded with twenty shillings.

Folio 207-208: enclosure with folios 198-199: printed letter from the Admiralty authorising the payment to gangs, of twenty shillings for every Able or Ordinary Seaman they can secure for His Majesty's Service.
