Folios 242-243: John Ross, HMS Acteon, Lerwick. He reports that an able seaman named James French who is deserter from HMS Princess Caroline, was arrested by a private of the 1st Royal Victorian Battalion of the Royal Marines at Lerwick and brought aboard HMS Acteon. He reports that the usual certificate of straggling money being granted. As HMS Acteon is short of its complement he asks that the man be put on his ship's books.
