Folios 194-195: C.H. Reid, HMS Calypso, Spithead. Further to orders given him by Captain Lloyd of HMS Plantagenet, he has arrived at Spithead. He has despatches with him and 23 men, of all ranks, sick and wounded. He reports, however, that the wounded are recovering well for which he believes his surgeon Mr J Smith, who has no assistance, should be most highly commended.
Folio 196: enclosure to folios 194-195. Copy order from Captain Robert Lloyd of HMS Plantagenet Commander of all the vessels in the Fayal Roads to Captain Charles Reid of HMS Calypso dated 30 September 1814. He states that those men who have been wounded aboard his vessel and also that of HMS Rota during the engagement with the American Privateer General Percival on 26 September 1814 should be taken to hospital. They cannot proceed to Jamaica as planned. Accordingly Captain Reid is to receive them on Board his ship the sick and wounded men and then proceed directly to Portsmouth. There he is to discharge the men with their sick tickets to the hospital and report his arrival to the Admiralty.
