Description

Folios 273-274: Wilson Rathbone, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reports on the case of Thomas Atcheson, sent to the Nore on the tender HMS Eliza, and returns his protection. Atcheson was impressed by Lieutenant Thomas Flinn at North Shields on 23 November because of information that he had been a fisherman before being bound as an apprentice. Encloses an affidavit from Mark Marshall that he know nothing of Atcheson before he signed his indentures.

Folios 275-276: enclosed with folios 273-274. Affidavit sworn by Mark Marshall, ship owner, of Blyth, Northumberland, before Justice of the Peace John [Stott ?]. 28 November 1810. Swears that Thomas Aitcheson was bound to him as an apprentice in July 1808 and believes he had not served at sea before that.

Folio 277: enclosed with folios 273-274. Letter signed by John & Mark Marshall of Blyth, Northumberland, 3 George Yard, Lombard Street, to the Admiralty 11 December 1810. Enclose [not present] indentures for Thomas Aitcheson and an affidavit that he had never served at sea before the date of his indenture. He was impressed at Shields and is now aboard a tender there, ask for his discharge.
