Folios 65-66: Wilson Rathbone, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Reports that many ship owner try to protect young men from impressment by appointing them as Mates of their vessels. His understanding is that no one who is under age can be admitted at the Custom House as either a Master or Mate. Asks whether such men are liable to impressment, encloses a copy of his letter to Rear Admiral William Albany Otway.
Folio 67: enclosure with folios 65-66. Copy of a letter from Wilson Rathbone, Regulating Captain, North Shields, to Rear Admiral William Albany Otway, 23 October 1810. Reports that Vice Admiral Sir Henry Edward Stanhope has ordered the tender HMS Eliza from the Nore to Portsmouth, and the other tender assigned to Shields will be full by the end of the week. Asks if another vessel can be ordered to collect men from the tender, otherwise he will be obliged to send her to the Nore, and will not be able to collect any more men until she returns.
