Description

Folios 289-290: Edward Marsh, HMS Kingfisher, Downs. Reports he left Lowstoffe [Lowestoft] on 23 August 1795 immediately the Boat returned from the Post Office and joined Captain Henry Trollope the same evening who dispatched him the following day with a letter on Service to Admiral Adam Duncan in the Downs, but not finding the Admiral here, he encloses it with a copy of his Orders to you. As there are no orders here for Captain Henry Trollope or HMS Kingfisher, he shall remain in the Downs until he receives further orders.

Folios 291-292: enclosure with folios 289-290. Orders dated 24 August 1795 by Henry Trollope, HMS Glatton to Lieutenant Edward Marsh, HMS Kingfisher. Orders to proceed to the Downs and if Admiral Adam Duncan is not there and there are any orders for him you will immediately bring them to the Station appointed him by Admiral Adam Duncan.

Folios 293-294: enclosure with folios 289-290. Orders dated 24 August 1795 by Henry Trollope, HMS Glatton, off Lowestoffe [Lowestoft] to Admiral Adam Duncan. With the wind preventing him proceeding to the Downs he will cruise of Yarmouth as ordered till he meets with you or he receives further directions what to do. He had meet a Dutch Fleet at anchor a second time to the Southward of the Land Diep of nearly the same force as before.
