Description

Folios 273-274: Edward Marsh, HMS Kingfisher, Off Leostoof [Lowestoft]. He reports his arrival here with dispatches from Captain Henry Trollope of HMS Glatton and he has put them in the Port Office, not being able to get to Yarmouth. The enclosed copies of Admiral Adam Duncan's and Captain Henry Trollope's orders and also intelligence sent him by Captain George Palmer of HMS Lion after he had left HMS Glatton and are he expect it to be Admiral Adam Duncan and his Fleet that was seen by the Brig, he shall put to Sea immediately and endeavour to join him as soon as possible or proceed to the Downs for further orders.

Folios 275-276: enclosure with folios 273-274. Letter dated 22 August 1795 by Henry Trollope, HMS Glatton, to Lieutenant Edward Marsh, HMS Kingfisher. Orders to proceed to London with his dispatched and then join Admiral Adam Duncan.

Folios 277-278: enclosure with folios 273-274. Letter dated 18 August 1795 by Admiral Adam Duncan, HMS Venerable, Downs, to Lieutenant Edward Marsh, HMS Kingfisher. Orders to put to Sea and Join Captain Henry Trollope, HMS Glatton, who is cruising with HMS Lion, HMS Nassau & a Cutter North of Texel and in case of falling in with them, inform Captain Henry Trollope that the Dutch Fleet is at Sea and that it is his [Admiral Adam Duncan] orders he immediately proceeds with his Squadron to join him off Yarmouth.
