Folios 246-247: Charles John Moore Mansfield, HMS Andromache, Off boston Bay. States as per the Orders of Sir John Laforey Bart. he left St Kitts after landing Major General Leigh on 25 July 1795 and proceeded to put the orders into execution to join Sir James Wallace Kent at St John's Newfoundland but on 29 July 1795 at [Position stated] at 5 o'clock in the evening the wind blowing very hard to the Northward he discovered his Main Mast sprung 12 feet from the Quarter Deck then under their Storm Stay sails he immediately ordered the Ship to be Wore[?] and to get ready to fish his Main Mast on the other tack, and lowered his Main Yard. [Gives details of his sailing through a Hurricane, Mentions:-] The Officers and Ship's Company's conduct and their Credit as British Seamen. First Lieutenant William Bathurst. Reports that no lives were lost and no Man hurt during the Hurricane.
