Folios 228-229: John Manley, HMS Apollo, At Sea off Scilly. Reports that as per orders of Vice Admiral Robert Kingsmill he sailed from Cork Harbour on 29 June 1795 with HMS Cerberus, HMS Polyphemus, HMS Santa Margarita & HMS Hazard in quest of the Homeward bound East India Company's Ships and cruised for that purpose until the 17 July 1795 in the morning he fell in with them off Sybil Head consisting as per the enclosed list. Having received information that Admiral Lord Bridport [Lord Alexander Arthur Hood (1st Viscount Bridport)] had defeated the Fleet of France and judging thereby that no part there of was now at Sea (the wind being to the Northward) He determined upon taking them up Channel and as soon as the Squadron makes the Lizard he intends to send HMS Polyphemus and HMS Hazard back to Cork as per the Vice Admirals orders. The ships are now off Scilly and HMS Cerberus being ordered to refit at Plymouth his anxiety to inform of so valuable a Convoy being thus far safe induces him to send her off immediately with orders to send Lieutenant Charles Gastine Aufrere at the first Port on his way to that place, to set off this express. He shall proceed with HMS Santa Margarita and use his best endevours to see them to safety off the Isle of Wight as per Admiral Robert Kingsmill's orders. He will then proceed to Plymouth to complete the Beer and Water of the two ships and if HMS Cerberus should be ready for sea he shall take her with him and lose no time in joining Admiral Robert Kingsmill at Cork Harbour. PS Lieutenant Charles Gastine Aufrere has his orders to join HMS Apollo at Plymouth after he has delivered the dispatches.

That sailed from St Helena on 15 May 1795. [List of 25 Ships stating:- Ships Name, Captain & From Whence. Also 1 Sugar Ship, 5 Whalers and 1 Merchant Ship]. [Folio 231] Extract from the Log Book of the Sir Edward Hughes Indiaman from 25 May 1795 to 17 July 1795.
