Folios 172-173: Pulteney Malcolm, HMS Fox, Little Nore. Covering letter for the enclosed Petition of First Lieutenant Mr John Levett requesting to be appointed to some situation on shore. He hopes this request will be complied with.
Folios 174-175: enclosure with folios 172-173. Letter dated 22 December 1795 by Lieutenant John Levett, HMS Fox, Sheerness to the Admiralty. Due to the state of his health, he has Rheumatism and has received repeated Hurts in His Majesty's Service. He has served nearly 30 Years, was appointed Acting Lieutenant by his late Uncle Captain [James] Alms [Almes?], and received his commission from Vice Admiral Sir Edward Hughes in the East Indies in 1782. He has a Wife and four small Children. He requests to be appointed to one of the Signal Houses or the Impress Service
