Folios 128-129: Alexander Mackay, No 23 Norfolk Street, Strand, London. He wrote previously on the 24 October 1795 tom which he has received no answer, the purpose of which was as follows:- He acknowledged receipt of your letter on 4 October 1795 under date the 26 September 1795, signifying there directions to make up his accounts and discharge himself from the service on which he was employed [Regulating Service] but at this time he had four Volunteers to be shipped from Aberdeen for the Nore. He discharged his two Petty Officers & Clerk on 8 October 1795 but bad weather delayed any possible sailing to the Nore He remained with the Volunteers and therefore requests he be paid to the 4 November 1795. He observes that when he received his instructions at this office he was informed he was to have two Lieutenants and two Midshipmen to each Lieutenant under his Command but there was only one Lieutenant sent, he adds that he regulated for the whole of the men that was enrolled for the Counties & Boroughs of Aberdeen & Banff (but 12) that Lieutenant George Robertson regulated at Banff after he left.
