Folios 95-96: Simon Mackenzie, HMS Sheerness, at Sea. States that since his sealing the letter of to days date He has together with Captain Evans of HMS Fury some Private conversations with the Master of the Newport, from which conversation we have collected information sufficient in our minds to prove that the Cargo of the Newport was purchased by the persons exercising the Government of France, for the purpose of supplying the necessities of that Country. Which is sufficiently testified by the Bills of Lading found with the Ship.
