Folios 68-69: MacIntosh, HMS Ceres. State of Equipment at Brest dated 24 March 1795. He was capture in January 1795 from HMS Ceres taken by the French on a voyage from Malaga to Leith and sent into Brest. He was sent to Brest Castle and confined with about 1000 persons of different descriptions, Men, Women and Children. He mad his escape with the Lieutenants from HMS Alexander [Taken off the Scillies by Nielly French Squadron losing 40 killed and wounded] and some other persons, all of whom excepting himself and the Lieutenants were retaken. They got on board an American vessel which sailed on 15 March 1795 and arrived in Bristol a few days ago. [He gives details of the numbers of ships he could see in the Roads during his confinement].
