Folios 160-161: George Reynolds, Regulating Captain, Deal. Reports that Robert [Davey ?] was impressed by his predecessor, Regulating Captain George Irvin [Irwin], in December 1805 at the request of the Mayor, as he was a troublesome drunkard. He had enrolled himself in the volunteer artillery, but the commanding officer of that corps agreed with the Mayor that he should go, and Lieutenant Hugh Anderson impressed him.
Folios 162-162A: enclosed with folios 160-161. Letter from Robert [Davey ?], HMS Brisk, Carrickfergus Bay, to the Admiralty, 29 August 1806. Asks for his discharge as he formerly served in the artillery corps at Deal, stationed at Sandown Castle in a detachment commanded by Captain Winter, and also because he has a protection as a fisherman. Lieutenant Hugh Anderson told him the protection had been sent to the Admiralty.
