Folios 186-188: enclosed with folios 184-185. Memorial seeking promotion from John Hatton, Master's Mate, HMS Duncan, recording his service in a variety of ships since 1802, several periods as Acting Lieutenant and the fact that he passed the examination for Lieutenant at Somerset House in January 1809. Annexes copies of certificates from six Captains and of his correspondence with the Commander in Chief, Mediterranean, and the Admiralty.
