Description

Folios 158-159: William Love, Yarmouth, Lymington. Asks if his son Henry Ommanney Love can be placed on the list for early promotion. He is a recent student at the Royal Naval College, now serving as a Midshipman on HMS Tisiphone but having been given temporary posts as Acting Lieutenant on HMS Tigre and HMS Byrne by Rear Admiral Sir Harry Neale as recognition of his valour in jumping overboard from the Byrne to save another Midshipman who was in the water. Lord Melville has also praised his conduct for this. Commander Love points out that he himself has recently been discharged from command of the Tisiphone after serving for 36 years.
