Folios 145-146: Robert Lawrie, HMS Ajax, the Hamoaze. As Captain Sheppard of the Royal Marines is on leave, he opened the letter addressed to him and found it says the Admiralty have given permission for Marine Private Zachariah Bibbs to be employed at the Royal Manufactory of Small Arms at Lewisham, and directing Captain Sheppard to discharge him to headquarters. Does not know what to do because he has never known a Captain of Marines to have the authority to discharge anyone who is serving aboard a Navy ship.
