Note (Additional information about the record)
- This describes the causes in which clergy dispossessed by Mary sought to regain their livings under Elizabeth, together with matrimonial & other causes. It was formerly despatched in error to the London Guild hall with some other material relating to thediocese of London, and while there bore the references MS 9537A. The volume is supplemented by PROB 34/2 and for the northern province by SP 12/10. Other material concerning this visitation is fragmentary and dispersed. See C.G. Bayne `The Royal Visitation of the Province of Canterbury, 1559' in English Historical Review, 1913, p 635.
