Folios 372-373: George Martin, HMS Colossus, off Ferrol. In reply to query from Rear Admiral Rowley dated 9 August he finds as follows: John Jones had no proof of his American citizenship except the certificate from the American consul, but Martin thinks he is an American; John Rome matches the description on the certificate and Martin thinks he is the right person.
