Folio 243: John Willoughby Marshall, HMS Lynx, Long Reach. Advising that he has discharged Nathan Bower, as it appears the man had not been at sea before he was indentured.
Folios 244-245: enclosure with folios 243. Petition from George Lyon, Master of the Mary & Betsey, of Boston, that on 9 April the ship was boarded by members of HM service who impressed Bower into the Lynx - the reason given being that his indenture was not on the ship. But it was at the time with the Admiralty, in order to be granted a protection, and he now sends it, with the protection, asking for the young man's discharge.
