Folios 220-221: Edward Marsh, St Mary's, Scilly. Replying to Admiralty query about the cost of hiring a boat, he says it is not possible to hire one without a man to take care of her and the price for the whole thing is £1 8s per week - and if their Lordships do not approve of paying for a constant crew he suggests hiring men when needed at 2s per day per man, supposing it will rarely be necessary to hire more than 3 or 4 men according to the weather. He promises to be as economical as possible.
