Folios 188-189: Charles John Moore Mansfield, HMS Minotaur, at the Nore. Noting that he had applied this day to the commissioner of the dockyard to pay the bounty due to the landsmen, seamen and ordinary seamen entitled to it he has been told they cannot be paid until they have been mustered twice at the Nore, by an order of the clerk of the cheque's office from 1740. As he is sure their Lordships would wish the men to receive their due before the ship sails to another port where there is no clerk of the cheque, he asks that the Navy Board be directed to authorise the payments.
Folio 190: enclosure with folios 188-189. Large sheet proclamation from the Court at St James, 20 April 1803, detailing the bounty of £3 per Able Seaman, £2 per Ordinary Seaman, and 20 shillings per landsman, who volunteer for the Service by 30 June next, an extension of two months on the original deadline.
Folio 191: enclosure with folios 188-189. The earlier proclamation, dated 7 March 1803, giving a deadline of 30 April.
