Folios 178-179: Robert Mansel, HMS Beschermer, off Harwich. As per his orders from Rear Admiral Rowley, he has examined George Mercer, and finds he is the apprentice stated, who entered voluntarily for the Service and received £1 10s bounty as an able-bodied person.
Folios 180-181: enclosure with folios 178-179. Letter dated 6 December 1803 by Samuel Sebastian Goebre of Bedford Court, orris weaver, asserting that his apprentice George Mercer, aged 17, ran away on 14 June last and entered the Service as a landsman, in the Enterprise, now aboard the Beschermer. Says he has never been at sea and asks for his discharge.
