Folios 128-129: Robert Mansel, HMS Bescherman, off Harwich. Having just received Admiralty letter re Edward Bayley, he advises that the man is badly ruptured and by no means fit for duty, having been on the sick list ever since he arrived on board the ship.
Folio 130: enclosure with folios 128-129. Note dated 10 September 1803 signed at Wells, by the surgeon, H. R. Rump, to certify that Edward Bayley has frequently been under his care due to a rupture which is very painful and renders him unfit for the service.
