Folios 114-115: Robert Mansel, HMS Beschermer, off Harwich. Asked by Admiral Rowley to report on the case of Thomas Smith, says the man is ruptured and 'perfectly useless in the ship', having done no duty whatsoever.
Folios 116-117: enclosure with folios 114-115. A memorial from Susanna Smith, wife of Robert, signed by the churchwarden and overseers, St Mary's, Newington. States Smith is a grocer in Walworth, responsible for nearly £40 rent and taxes per annum, impressed on 8 June last, but that he is not an able-bodied man.
Folio 117: enclosure with folios 116-117. Corroborates Smith's state of health, signed on 6 August 1803 by Surgeon John Ballard of Walworth, Surrey.
