Folios 101-102: Robert Mansel, HMS Beschermer, off Harwich. Stating the case of John Coggell, an out-pensioner of the Greenwich Hospital, warranted Master of Arms for the ship on 10 June. He was given 24 hrs leave of absence to buy clothes for the crew and entrusted with £30 for the purpose. After a week's absence an officer was sent to fetch him but could not find him, so Mansel is sure the man meant to desert. Notes that Coggell had previously been a sergeant of marines and well acquainted with military discipline so it is unlikely he would have tried to sign up as a volunteer elsewhere, to claim the bounty. Asks that a search may be made for this man.
