Folios 53-54: W[?] Mansel, London. Advising that he has received a request from William Wilkes, late surgeon of HMS Pigmy, for him to give their Lordships his view of Wilkes's conduct as Surgeon's Mate of the Boadicea during the time Mansel was first lieutenant in her. Says he does Wilkes 'scant justice' in saying that he was always diligent, attentive and obedient, with a cheerfulness that made him respected by both the officers and ship's company.
