Folios 45-46: John Manley, HMS Spartiate, represented by Messrs Omanney & Druce, wishes to appoint a young man from Christ's Hospital School to serve in his ship - they have applied to the school whose reply is enclosed.
Folios 47-48: enclosure with folios 45-46. Letter dated 21 May 1803 by Richard Corp, clerk to Christ's Hospital School, saying the lad named William Corke has passed the examination at Trinity House for Sea Service and on receipt of the 'usual letter' from Sir Evan Nepean at the Admiralty, the young man will be despatched immediately to join Captain Manley.
