Description

Folios 302-303: Keith Maxwell, HMS Hound, Deptford. Having previously stated the case of Ralph Wake to you bur as he was on HMS Minx at the Nore at that time as a doubtful case and having said he would review the case. He has now been able to review and find that Ralph Wake is a stout young man seemingly above twenty and the appearance of having been longer at sea than processes and as the description of his person was entirely omitted which was sent by Lieutenant Patrick Manderson a few days ago. He has therefore sent him to the Nore to be disposed of accordingly.

Folios 304-305: enclosure with folios 302-303. Letter dated 3 May 1803 by Christopher Nymes, to the Admiralty. Request the discharge of Ralph Wake.

Folios 306-307: enclosure with folios 302-303. Letter dated 2 May 1803 by Patrick Manderson, HMS Minx, Deptford, to the Admiralty. Covering letter for the enclosed [not present] Protection for Ralph Wake.

Folios 308-309: enclosure with folios 302-303. Letter dated 7 May 1803 by Keith Maxwell, HMS Hound, Deptford, to the Admiralty. Reply to letter dated 3 May 1803 requesting he states the case of Ralph Wake an apprentice. He reports he was impressed on HMS Minx and states that Lieutenant Patrick Manderson Commander of HMS Minx reported the case as an imposture on the day Ralph Wake was impressed.
