Folios 297-298: Keith Maxwell, HMS Hound, Deptford. Reply to letter dated 7 May 1803 requesting him to state the cases of William Rippon and Richard Newburn. He reports that finding each of them had been 4 years at sea he sent both to the Nore.

That Thomas Richardson of Sunderland in the County of Durham this day Voluntarily Maketh Oath and Faith That William Rippon and Richard Newburn Impressed on 3 May 1803 are both under Articles of Apprenticeship to the Owner of the Betty & Nelly as per Indentures dated September 1798.
