Folios 255-256: Keith Maxwell, HMS Hound, Deptford. Reply to letter dated 30 April 1803 requesting he state the case of David Hay, 2nd Mate of the Ship Queen, said to have been employed at Deptford. He reports that having no man of that name on the Supernumerary List of HMS Hound he has directed every enquiry to be made on board the different ships at Deptford but has gained no information respecting him. He recollects about a fortnight ago taking two Seamen out of the Queen, one calling himself the Master and the other Chief Mate, by an affidavit which he examined the master at the time was also the owner. He directed the 2nd Mate to be impressed who he thinks then produced an Invalided Ticket but having been examined by the Surgeons he was sent top the Nore which accounts for his name on being on HMS Hounds List.
Folios 257-258: enclosure with folios 255-256. A Shiness & Co, to the Admiralty, dated 28 April 1803. Petition for the discharge David Hay, 2nd Mate of the Queen.
