Description

Folios 85-86: Keith Maxwell, HMS Hound, Deptford. Emplanes how he has set up the service in his area and how if applications for discharge had been made to him, in most cases he would have been able to discharge the men without involving the Admiralty. Sends examples of his instructions to Captains in his Area. [Total of two plus sides].

Folios 87-88: enclosure with folios 85-86. Letter dated 9 March 1803 by Keith Maxwell, HMS Hound, to Alexander Robert Kerr, HMS Diligence. Instructions to work with the assistance of Captain Christopher Strachey of HMS Jalouse and the respective Surgeons to survey impressed men held on the receiving Ships:- HMS Adder, HMS Monkey, HMS Conflict & HMS Constants. [Lists:-] Navy Board, Victualling Board, Ordnance Board, Customs & Excise and Post Office.

Folios 89-90: enclosure with folios 85-86 Letter dated 14 March 1803 by Keith Maxwell, HMS Hound, to Lieutenant James Tillard, HMS Monkey. Instructions to work with the assistance of 1st Lieutenant of HMS Fairy with your own Surgeon to survey Impressed men on board HMS Conflict. [Lists:-] Navy Board, Victualling Board, Ordnance Board, Customs & Excise and Post Office.
