Folios 254-255: Robert Montagu, HMS Hector, Portsmouth Harbour. Advises that HMS Hector would have been at Spithead 2 days previously but the wind has detained them. Proposes to apply to the Commissioner to pay the crew but prior to that he presumes it necessary to have Marines or Troops embarked. Advises that upon application to the Commander in Chief on this subject he directed him to write to the Admiralty as there were no Marines at Quarters and he has no authority respecting Troops.
