Crime: Larceny, by theft of a jacket.
Initial sentence: Ten years transportation.
Gaoler's Report: 'Convicted before'; (for stealing a pair of boots and imprisoned three months with hard labour).
Outcome: 'Free pardon, 12 September 1848'.
Petitions and letters: Certificate of good conduct in prison from [James Gane] (governor of Taunton Gaol, Somerset) and confirming to the Home Office details of the conviction and her previous record; medical certificate of epilepsy and general health impairment from [Henry Lindon] (surgeon to the gaol); petitional letter from Francis Popham and John R Allen (visiting justices to the gaol) enclosing the certificate and recommending the prisoner to clemency on those grounds.
