Description

Folio: 476. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter K. Grant.

First party: Richard I.

Second party: Gerard de Canville and Nicholaa, his wife [Nicholaa de la Haye].

Place or subject: The whole of the right and inheritance which Gerard and Nicholaa ought to have in England and Normandy from her inheritance, with the custody and constableship of the castle of Lincoln, and with all rents and liberties which they ought to have as justly, well, freely and entirely as Robert de Haia and Richard de Haia [de la Haye] or any of her ancestors have held them. The king also grants them Puppevill and Warrevillam as their right, with all appurtenances pertaining to those manors, excepting £300 worth of land or what the king gave from those manors to Nicholas de Humeto [Hommet]. To hold to Gerard and his wife and their heirs well, in peace, freely, quietly, entirely, fully and honourably with all liberties and free customs.
