Description

Folios: 475v-476. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter K. Grant.

First party: Ranulf, earl of Chester [Ranulf de Blundeville].

Second party: Hugh Bardulf [Bardolf].

Place or subject: The whole of the earl's demesne of his manor of Wadinton [Waddington], excepting [blank] of the Temple of Jerusalem, namely 110s worth of land, and excepting the land of Spileman, the earl's chamberlain, namely Ploxland, and excepting the land of Anschetill the servant and William Beedow, in fee and inheritance. For his service. If there will not be £40 worth of land from the the earl's demesne there, the earl will make this up to him elsewhere from the earl's inheritance next to the earl's warren in Lindeseia [Lindsey]. The earl orders that Hugh and his heirs will hold this tenure of the earl and his heirs by free service of three knights well and honourably in the vill and outside, in the market place, market, wood, plain, meadows, pastures, ways, paths, waters, mills, ponds and fishings, with 'soc, sac, tol, theom, infangent' and with all other customs and liberties.
