Description

Folio: 468. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter I. Grant.

First party: Petronella, daughter of Alan Smerhorne of Kirkeby [Kirkby], late wife of Nicholas de la Mare of Burgo [Burgh].

Second party: Robert de Gippethorp and Eleanor, his wife.

Place or subject: The whole land with appurtenances which Petronella had by the gift of Alan, her father, in the vill and territory of Burgo [Burgh], lying between the land which was of Robert son of Roys towards the south and the land of Hugh de Wheytecroft towards the south, abutting upon the land which was of Joan, Petronella's sister, towards the east and upon the land which was of Robert Curtays towards the west. To hold this land with liberties, commons, ways and paths without any reservation to Robert and Eleanor and their heirs or assigns of Robert de Tateshale [Tattershall] and his heirs, as chief lord of the fee, freely, quietly, well and in peace, in fee and inheritance, paying yearly to Robert and his heirs one clove at the feast of St Botolph for all demand, custom, exaction, suit of court and secular service.
