Description

Folio: 463. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter I. Grant.

First party: Lawrence, son of William son of Hugh de Sumercot' [Somercotes].

Second party: Philip, son of Odo Galle of Salfleteby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: The whole land lying in Somercot' [Somercotes] between the way which leads to the sea on the west side, and the sea, whose side towards the north abuts upon the common of the same vill, just as Hunderthfur extends, and towards the south upon Philip's land which he had from Alan son of Gilbert, with all appurtenances and liberties without any reservation. To hold to Philip and his heirs of Lawrence and his heirs freely, quietly and in inheritance, for a certain sum of money which Philip gave to Lawrence in advance. For this quitclaim Philip remitted to Lawrence and his heirs the whole fee farm which Lawrence was accustomed to pay to him by the appointment of Alan son of Gilbert, namely 3d a year at Pentecost, one goose at the feast of All Saints and one bushel of salt at Martinmas.
