Description

Folios: 449-449v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter I. Grant.

First party: Robert, son of John Wyles of Wellet' [Welton].

Second party: Clement the clerk, son of Hugh the warrener of Bulingbroc [Bolingbroke].

Place or subject: Twelve selions and one headland of arable land in the territory of Wellt' [Welton] with appurtenances, namely in Northendale four selions, which is to say two selions lying between the land of William son of Aldine and the land of Etchard Well; and two other selions on the other side of the same valley lying between Etchard's land and the land of the church; and two selions at Haldeldale lying between the land of Adam Fossard and the land of Osbert the clerk. And on the south side of the same vill four selions at Sic Furlangs lying between Clement's land and the land which was of Gilbert the parmenter; and one selion lying opposite to the way of Thatewelle [Tathwell] lying near to the land which was of Alan son of Brian on the south side. And one selion abutting upon the way of Thatewell [Tathwell] on the west side and one headland upon Sandeclive abutting towards the north and towards the south. In pure and perpetual alms. To hold to Clement and his assigns freely, quietly and peacefully from all services, demands and exactions, for 1d to be paid to the altar of St Andrew on the feast-day of St Andrew.
