Folios: 448v-449. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter I. Lease.
First party: Peter Galle of Saufletby [Saltfleetby].
Second party: Adam de Malbertorp [Mablethorpe], perpetual vicar of Burgo [Burgh].
Place or subject: One toft with the buildings in the vill of Burgo [Burgh], namely the toft which Master Philip Galle, Peter's brother, once held in the same vill, and the whole land, with the whole meadow, which Master Philip held in the same vill of any feoffment, without any reservation, and with pasture pertaining to the same land and meadow. To hold to Adam of Peter and his heirs freely, quietly and peacefully with all appurtenances and easements, both within the vill and outside, until the end of ten years fully completed thereafter, the term beginning at Michaelmas 1276. Adam cannot give or sell the premises to any Jew or religious man, or bequeath them in a will. He is to pay yearly to Peter and his heirs 26s 8d at two terms, namely 13s 4d at Martinmas and 13s 4d at the feast of St Peter in Chains, for all secular services, suits of courts, exaction and demand. Adam ought to repair and maintain the buildings of this toft at his own costs and maintain them decently during this term in the same state as he took them or in a better one. It will not be lawful for Adam during his term to cut ash or other trees growing within the toft, or in any way alienate them without Peter's licence or that of his heirs. Once the term of ten years has elapsed, the toft and premises will return to Peter and his heirs without any challenge, claim or impediment from Adam or his heirs or anyone else. Adam took the meadow with fallow land in that year, and therefore he did not pay the first fee farm at Martinmas, and Adam will maintain all charges and commons of the vill, which belong to that land.
County: [Lincolnshire].
Additional people: Witnesses: Robert de Somercotes; Gilbert le Muir of the same; Philip de Boneyr; Berg' Galle; Adam, brother of William de Saufletby [Saltfleetby]; Andrew de Scupholm [Scupholme]; and William the clerk.
