Description

Folios: 447-447v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter I. Grant.

First party: Walter, son of Alan son of Brian de Welleton [Welton].

Second party: Henry, son of Adam de Witchale [Withcall], chaplain.

Place or subject: The whole of that part of the toft which William son of Geoffrey sold to Walter and quitclaimed for himself and his heirs, namely that which lies next to the toft of Osbert son of Arnold and the toft of Osbert the clerk, and he has in width four perches and it extends in length from the great way which lies through the middle of the vill of Wellet' [Welton] as far as the 'fore-earth' of Osbert son of Arnold, and two selions lying opposite to Littelhougate between the land of Conan son of Geoffrey and the land of Robert, son of Gilbert of Halint' [Allington], with appurtenances in free, pure and perpetual alms. Henry, his heirs and assigns are to find one lamp to burn in the church of St Andrew of Wellet' [Welton] before the altar of St Mary in the same church at all feast days, at morning prayers, masses and vespers, for the salvation of Walter's soul and the souls of his ancestors and successors, for all service, exaction and custom.
