Description

Folios: 442v-443. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter H. Final concord.

First party: Henry de Lacy, earl of Lincoln, by John Turpin, his attorney.

Second party: Robert de Hertford.

Place or subject: One messuage and two carucates of land with appurtenances in Horbling. Whereupon a plea of covenant was summoned between them in court, namely that Robert acknowledged these tenements, which is to say whatever he had in that vill in demesne and service on the day on which this concord was made, without any reservation, to be the right of the same earl, and those he handed over to the earl in court, to hold to the earl and his heirs of the chief lord of the fee by the services pertaining to those tenements forever. In addition, Robert granted for himself and his heirs that one messuage and one carucate of land which Isabel Horbling retained in dower from Robert's inheritance in that vill on the day on which this concrod was made, and which after her death ought to revert to Robert and his heirs, after her death are to remain entirely to the earl and his heirs, to hold together with those tenements which remain by that fine, of the chief lords of the fee by the services which pertain to those tenements forever.
