Description

Folio: 442v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter H. Grant.

First party: Robert de Horbling, knight.

Second party: Alan Hardy of the same vill and Beatrice, his wife.

Place or subject: Eight acres of land in the territory of Horbling with half a bovate of meadow in the meadows of the same vill, namely throughout the whole meadow, excepting Suytherdyk, of which one and a half acres lie on the south side of Stowegate next to the land of Robert, son of Peter de Stowe; and half an acre lies in the south field between the land of Robert Combe and the land of Henry de Stowe; and four roods lie next to Samley Gate on the south side; and three roods of newly broken land lie in le Syke between the land of Alan son of Robert and the land which was of Alexander le Cuteler; and one acre lies upon le Brath by the land of Alan son of Robert; and half an acre lies upon Wrongland between the land of Maud de Stowe and the land of Henry, her son; and two acres lie upon Snipegouk between the land of the canons of the house of St Saviour and the land which William Boy holds; and half an acre lies upon Boleclif by the land of Andrew Bareth; and one rood lies at Stanpittis by the land which was of Roger in the Willows; and half a bovate of meadow lies on the east side of Robert's demesne from the fee of Brittany next to the meadow of William Pepir. To hold to Alan and Beatrice, his wife, during their whole lives, of Robert and his heirs freely and quietly, paying yearly to Robert and his heirs foreign service as far as it pertains to half a bovate of free land from the fee of Brittany in that vill, for all secular service, custom and demand. After the deaths of Alan and Beatrice, these lands are to revert without challenge from their heirs quietly and in peace to Robert and his heirs.
