Description

Folio: 434v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter F. Obligation.

First party: Philip Galle.

Second party: John le Vavasur [Vavasour].

Place or subject: Philip makes known that he is bound, for himself, his heirs or assigns, to John le Vavasur, to pay him or to John de Cokerington [Cockerington] or John de Crubi or Robert Noell, whoever will be present at the delivering of this deed, whom he has attorned to receive this money and to deliver this deed, to pay £16 on Thursday next before Pentecost, 28 Hen III, in the house of John le Vavasur in Cokerington [Cockerington]. In which sum Philip is bound to John for his manor of Cokerington [Cockerington], which he demised to Philip for a term of twelve years. In such a way that if the Philip or his attorneys, namely Walter de Oxcumbe or Gilbert Thedelthorp [Theddlethorpe], or one of them who will be present, do not fail in the whole payment of this money on that feast and place, the manor will remain to John le Vavasur or his heirs quit and absolute from Philip and his heirs or assigns. And once the money has been paid to John, it will remain quit to him without making any opposition and demand and suit in the court of Christianity or royal court to exact this manor or to hold the agreement about it made between them.
